On May 28, 2022, the “Unity Platform” initiative group in Yerevan made a proposal to start consultations on the Pan-Armenian agenda. They sent letters to various organizations inviting them to attend the June 4th meeting. The letter was signed by Arshak Sadoyan and Telman Tadevosyan.

Before the event

The announcement of May 28, in particular, said the following.

There is no way to delay any more. It is time to convene a pan-Armenian decision-making meeting of Armenian, Artsakh, the Diaspora, other influential institutions, authorized representatives of community associations, and an expanded staff of guests – the 7-th conference of Diaspora which will finally start to form a monolithic system of nationwide structures capable of purpose – oriented activities (Pan-Armenian Structure), our powerful Armenian Nation organization with its homeland Armenia.

With the aim to contribute to convening the conference as soon as possible and according to this agenda, the “Unity Platform” is organizing a meeting-consultation with all stakeholders on June 4-th, 2022, at 15:00 (by Yerevan time – GMT+4) at the “Elite Plaza” business center, at which our Diaspora compatriots will be able to follow and participate online.

On June 4, this meeting was attended by: about 35 people in Yerevan and several people remotely, incl. from Diaspora.

Three members of the Coordinating Council of Russian-Armenian Organizations (CC RAO) Sarkis Tsaturyan, Ruben Kirakosyan and Vahan Babakhanyan spoke at the meeting.

Ruben Kirakosyan (Moscow) gave his assessment of the general state in the Diaspora, raised the question of the legitimacy of the representation and suggested strengthening the network component of the future unifying structure.

Vahan Babakhanyan (St. Petersburg) drew attention to the fact that very few people from the Armenian communities of Russia, the Middle East and the West participate, although the topic is the connection between Armenia and the Diaspora. He supported the idea expressed earlier by Vardan Petrosyan about the priority of information technologies and resources in such a global project. V. Babakhanyan suggested using the information resources of the CC RAO so that by the next meeting the picture would be better and the representation of Armenians in Russia would be greater.

The initiative started on June 4 will be continued. Relevant information will be disseminated by member organizations of the CC RAO in Russia.
